For a long time, product content had one primary responsibility: show customers what something looks like. A collection of clear photographs, a useful description, a price, and a few specifications were considered enough to support an online purchase. As e-commerce matured, brands improved their photography, introduced multiple angles, added videos, and invested in better presentation. Yet the basic principle remained unchanged. Customers were still looking at a product through a screen. That model is beginning to change. Digital commerce is moving toward an environment where product content can become interactive, spatial, responsive, and connected to the physical world. Instead of treating an image as the final representation of an object, brands can treat it as the first layer of a much richer experience.
